Short-Term Housing Support

Holly House is our 10-unit residential re-entry centre for identified women, girls, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals recently released from incarceration. We strive to provide a structured environment that promotes personal growth and healing. Our supervising staff use restorative, strength-based, and trauma-informed approaches to help residents build a successful future.

Holly House offers a variety of programs to support the transition back into the community:

  • Abundance: community integration and goal setting

  • Soul: life skills and wellness

  • Addictions counselling

  • Trauma healing programming

  • Cultural connections through Indigenous and African Nova Scotian specific supports

  • Training opportunities based on individual program planning

Hannah House

An eight-unit duplex in the heart of Halifax’s west end, Hannah House is a home for women and gender-diverse individuals who are prepared to live independently but can also benefit from the support that Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia offers.

Established in memory of Hannah Louise MacLean, Hannah House is a safe haven for those facing struggles similar to what Hannah faced. By providing residents with programming, counselling, and a strong sense of mutual support, our goal is to contribute to their capacity for self-sufficiency, reaching goals, fulfillment, and reintegration into the community.
