The Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia (EFMNS) is dedicated to addressing the unique needs of identified women, girls, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals in the criminal justice system. Our prison legal services initiative allows us to provide these underserved communities, who are currently or previously incarcerated, with the access to justice they deserve. 

 

We provide a range of court navigation services:

• Parole board support

• Police complaints

• Bail release plans

• Habeas Corpus applications

• Judicial review applications

• Restorative justice initiatives

• Correctional disciplinary hearings

• Human rights complaints

• Mental health advocacy

 

We also provide crucial support and programming to the Specialized Courts. Should a matter fall outside our mandate, we will refer clients to other resources in the community that can help with navigating the legal system.
